About Us

History Of Selimiye Foundation

Selimiye Foundation is a community based organisation that was founded by local Melbournian volunteers in 1992. Selimiye Foundation originally served as a community organisation providing educational and wellbeing services such as cultural events and activities, student accommodation and scholarships. Over the years thanks to Government grants and the generous donations of the community, the foundation has made significant progress since its establishment. This development has led to the establishment of many organisations and institutions such as its most prominent contribution to education with the establishment of Sirius College (formerly known as Isik College) in 1997.

Vision

The Australian Multiculturalism policy is strongly embraced by Selimiye Foundation. As such, all community and educational activities are designed according to this policy and aims to raise a Golden Generation who will become role models in the building of a harmonious society with multicultural values and mutual respect

Mission

The charter of the foundation aims to develop social awareness, education, and culture of all Australians, by establishing schools, dormitories, youth camps, seminars, conferences and rehabilitation centers for the disadvantaged youth and members of the community at large

Our Approach

Selimiye Foundation’s core purpose is to serve individuals and community groups through social and wellbeing programs. The foundation aims to achieve this through hosting and co-hosting educational and social events.

We host weekly educational and wellbeing programs and activities for all our groups. Furthermore, we offer all our volunteers and members across the state, panel discussion, seminars and conferences. Throughout the year, we also offer various camps and trips for our community.

We believe that our education and wellbeing programs and activities for adults will provide a learning and social atmosphere welcoming each and every member of the society. We hope to cater for everyone’s needs and further enhance spirituality and social awareness of all our volunteers and members.

We provide weekly educational and social wellbeing classes for children in primary and high school to further enhance their educational and wellbeing needs. At the end of the year, we also offer a summer camp for all our students.

Young children are in dire need of extensive education and wellbeing services, and here at Selimiye Foundation we have established a warm and welcoming environment for all children to benefit from our unique education and social wellbeing programs and activities.

Selimiye Foundation sponsors and collaborates with many of its sub and member organizations, as well as external organizations to ensure all programs and events are rich in value and the needs of the community are satisfied.

It is always great to work together with other organisations to deliver quality services. We are delighted to collaborate and work with many organisations around the state to provide excellent service for the community.

Who We Work With

Selimiye Foundation is an umbrella organisation that comprises members, affiliate members, sub-organisations and collaborators. Working together with these organisations, Selimiye Foundation aims to provide multiple opportunities and avenues to serve the community of Melbourne.

Sub Organisations

Jasmine Women Network organises diverse activities such as camps, picnics, trips and seminars in order to raise social and cultural awareness of ladies in the community.

Quba Mosque offers a variety of religious and faith related services to the Victorian Muslim community.

Australia’s largest Turkish bookstore, Fountain Bookshop has been operating for over 20 years, offering a wide range of educational and cultural books and traditional giftware

Moonstar Kids Academy and Childcare is a safe, secure and affordable daycare for children ages six weeks to six years old providing a stimulating and educational environment for children to learn in a friendly and non-competitive atmosphere

Entrust Support Services is a not-for-profit organization with the goal of improving the lives of people with disabilities. We work with you to provide high quality, responsive, safe, innovative and honest NDIS support services that are tailored to achieve your goals.

The Australian Intercultural Society (AIS) is a not for profit organisation that promotes multiculturalism and fostering intercultural and interfaith dialogue. The AIS believes in reaching out to all members of society by providing a platform for cultural and information exchange

Sirius College

Sirius College is a private school established in 1997. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, the school has over ~3000 students across 6 campuses. The college is a non-denominational school and welcomes students from all ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Youth Nexus

Youth Nexus is an Australia wide youth initiative established in 2020. YN aims at empowering the youth to provide opportunities for then to lead and serve their community. With team members and volunteers from all around Australia, YN aspires to host and encourage programs and events aimed at developing the youth, through inclusion and integrity
